Restoration of Barbican Gate Lodge, Glenarm

This project, one of several for the Irish Landmark Trust, involved the restoration of the Barbican Gate Lodge at the South entrance into the Glenarm Estate. The major items of work were the replacement of defective sandstone, internal re-plastering in a lime based mortar, replacement of windows, re-roofing and internal alterations to suit modern day needs.

 

 

The project at Castle Upton won a commendation in the RICS (Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors) awards in the 'Regeneration' category for Northern Ireland.
